Jesus Rodolfo performs on an exact replica of the decorated Stradivarius viola, the “Spanish Court” 1696 from the Royal Collection of Stradivarius of the Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid). The original instrument is one of only 11 decorated instruments in existence and one of the only decorated instruments known to have been made as part of a set.

The viola has beautiful decorative details, from a faux ivory - camel bone inlay in the instrument’s purfling, to ornate plant and flower motifs, and animals rabbits and pigeons, along with vines along the sides and on the scroll. It was made for Mr. Rodolfo by renowned Spanish luthier Diego del Valle.
